My name is Jennifer and I come from a family in which having “strong autistic traits” is normal. Like the guy in the movie said, autism doesn’t just run in my family, it gallops! A bunch of us have been official diagnosed with various autism spectrum disorders, while the rest just keep living with a major combination of strong autistic traits and awesomeness.
I believe there is room on the Internet (or at least server space on WordPress) for yet another blog about autism because things get better for people on and off the spectrum who live and work with each other in proportion to how well we understand, empathize with, and communicate across our differences. With any luck I’ll contribute a little to that process in both directions.
My books, How to Teach Life Skills to Kids with Autism or Asperger’s and Growing Up with Sensory Issues, are available on Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com, and from me, personally, whenever and wherever I speak.
